In the process of starting up a premium bottle water company. Having difficulties finding a major artesian provider/source within the United States. Any suggestions or insight on this matter?
It will depend on what you are looking for and where you are in the USA. Where you are is important in order to choose the right bottler. Right now shipping is a substantial cost. Many water bottlers have access to sources of different spring and artesian waters.
Choosing the right source could be important for your branding depending on the positioning of your water.
I will be introducing a luxury brand to the bottle water industry. My water product is targeting the high-end and premium water market. Ex. Fiji and Voss. I have a unique and modern bottle design which goes hand and hand with my marketing strategy. I’m located in Dallas, Tx. I really would like to find the closest artesian bottler/source with the right natural environment. Ex. Mountains, natural springs, and etc…. Obviously, for marketing appeal and stability for the product. Logistics is a major factor across the board for all industries, due to oil prices. So it would definitely be to my advantage to have all of the counterparts of production to be in the proximity of each other. Where can I find an artesian bottler that can provide this type of service? Thks! -brandon
I hate to tell you this, but only a few bottlers in the USA bottle at the source. Most of the water is trucked in from sources to bottling facilities.
There is a big bottler in Texas that brings in spring water. I work with them on several projects. I toured their plant 3 weeks ago.
The closest and best “bottle at the source” places are in Canada.
This is why price will be an equalizer. If you have high end water you will have more than enough margin to pay for freight. Each 1 litter bottle of high-end water at retail can sell for about $2 if you follow the Fiji model.
